2014 Bagram Airfield bombing
A Taliban suicide bomber on a bicycle attacked a joint Afghan-ISAF reconnaissance patrol near Qalandar Khel village outside Bagram Airfield on 8 July 2014, killing at least 17 people, including five Czech soldiers, two Afghan police officers, and ten Afghan civilians.

On 8 July 2014, at approximately 5:15 a.m. UTC, a suicide bomber riding a bicycle attacked a joint Afghan-ISAF reconnaissance mission near Qalandar Khel village, in front of the Korean Clinic, close to Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. The attack was carried out by the Taliban.
At the time of the attack, Czech soldiers serving as part of the Czech Afghanistan Contingent, together with Afghan police, were assessing the security situation in the village. The patrol was investigating recent rocket attacks against Bagram Airfield; two days earlier, a rocket had been fired at the base from the nearby village of Qalandar Khil. The bomber was reportedly among a crowd of Afghans who were talking with the soldiers at the time of the detonation.
The blast killed at least 17 people at the scene. Among the dead were ten Afghan civilians, two Afghan police officers, and four Czech soldiers. A fifth Czech soldier died six days later from wounds sustained in the attack, at a military hospital in Prague. In total, five Czech ISAF soldiers lost their lives as a result of the bombing.
The incident is one of several attacks that have occurred at or near Bagram Airfield over the years, alongside separate bombings recorded in 2007, 2015, and 2016.
