Casepin · Press kit
Casepin — the map of true crime.
A world map where every pin is a real, sourced case, with the best video and podcast coverage attached.
Casepin is an educational true-crime reference built as a world map. Every pin is a documented case with a cited, victim-first case file — timeline, people, sources — and the best existing coverage from YouTube creators and podcasters, linked and embedded rather than re-hosted. A calm archive for adult readers, not a feed engineered for dread.
The angle
Restraint as a product.
True crime is enormous and mostly sensational. Casepin is the deliberate opposite: an ethics-forward reference that treats the genre's subjects as people. The product enforces that stance in software.
Victim-first by construction.
Cases are framed around victims, never perpetrator mythology. A title says “murder” only when a court has; otherwise “killing,” “death,” or “disappearance.”
No guilt the record doesn't support.
Legal status is a database field, and people who have not been charged are never named.
Coverage is a feature, not a dumping ground.
The best storytellers' videos and podcasts are embedded in context and credited. Casepin sends traffic to creators, and never re-hosts their work.
What it refuses to build.
No likes, no comment threads on real people's worst days, no play-detective mechanics, no tip collection, no gore, no notifications engineered for dread. A correction link sits on every case.
That restraint-as-a-product position is the story, not just the app.
