Death of Stacey English

Stacey Nicole English (June 1, 1975 – January 23, 2012) was reported missing from her Atlanta, Georgia home by family members on December 27, 2011. According to her family, she was last seen at her residence on or about Christmas Day. When investigators examined her home, they found her apartment gate fob and cell phone left behind, and the fireplace still burning. English was believed to have been driving a white 2006 Volvo S60, which was later found abandoned. Police stated at the time that there was no indication of foul play.

During the investigation, St. Louis event promoter Robert Kirk, who was reportedly the last person to see English, was named a person of interest. Investigators formally cleared Kirk of any involvement on January 20, 2012.

On January 23, 2012, individuals searching for scrap metal discovered human remains underneath a fallen tree in Atlanta. Initial findings from the Chief Medical Examiner of Georgia indicated the remains were consistent with English's age and gender. The medical examiner's office ultimately ruled that her death was most likely caused by cold exposure (hypothermia), compounded by underlying neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Following the discovery, English's parents released a statement expressing that finding their daughter provided only partial closure. They stated they believed foul play may have been involved, citing the manner and location in which she was found, and indicated they intended to continue seeking further answers.

The case, as documented, concluded with an accidental cause of death determination by medical examiners, though English's family publicly expressed continued questions about the circumstances of her death.
