Melissa Kaye “Katie” Autry was an 18-year-old freshman living in Poland Hall at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. During the early hours of May 4, 2003, she returned to her dormitory after a fraternity party. She was assaulted in her room and set on fire, suffering severe burns.
