Murder of Rebecca Landrith

Rebecca Landrith was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and worked as a professional model in New York City. According to her biography, she played violin, appeared as a contestant on "America's It Girl," and was a finalist in the 2014 Miss Manhattan Pageant. In 2021, at age 47, she was murdered, and her body was dumped near an Interstate 80 ramp in Pennsylvania. A PennDOT worker discovered her body early on a Sunday morning. Officials stated she had recently been traveling through the Midwestern United States, and investigators believe she was killed at another location before her body was left near the interstate exit. She had been shot 18 times, most likely inside the cab of a truck.
Police identified Tracy Ray Rollins, a 29-year-old truck driver from Texas, as a suspect after his name was found on a note discovered on the victim's body. Surveillance video footage showed Landrith and Rollins together at a truck stop in Wisconsin, at a Popeye's restaurant in Indiana, and again at a truck stop in Ohio, placing them together across three Midwestern states. Cell phone data placed Rollins at the location on Interstate 80 where the body was found. Police recovered spent shell casings and other physical evidence from the sleeper portion of Rollins's truck. Rollins was arrested at a truck stop in Southington, Connecticut, a few days after the body was discovered. He told police he did not know Landrith.
Rollins was charged in Pennsylvania with homicide and abuse of a corpse. The district attorney overseeing the case did not seek the death penalty. In 2022, Rollins was sentenced to 40 to 80 years in state prison.
