Fields

| slug | Stable case identifier; the case file lives at /case/<slug>. |
| title | The case file's title. |
| status | Legal status from the database field: solved, unsolved, cold, ongoing or overturned. |
| date_start | Date the case began (ISO 8601), when known. |
| date_end | Date it ended, when known. |
| place | Display place: city and region or country. |
| city | City. |
| region | State, province or region. |
| country_code | ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code. |
| lat | Latitude of the case pin (public place, never a private residence). |
| lng | Longitude of the case pin. |
| citations | Number of distinct sources the case file cites. |
| coverage | Number of curated videos, podcasts and documentaries attached. |
| last_modified | When the case file last changed (edit, verification, update or new coverage). |
| url | Canonical case-file URL. |
Using the data
- Attribute as “Casepin case index (casepin.org/data), CC BY-SA 4.0” and link the case files you use.
- Cite facts to the primary sources each case file lists; status is as of the file’s last verification.
- The index holds no names and no case prose. People’s legal roles follow our standards.
- Updated daily. Only reviewed case files appear; the full archive is on the map.
