More than 500 people have reportedly confessed to Elizabeth Short's killing. Elizabeth Short, known posthumously as the Black Dahlia, was found murdered in Los Angeles in January 1947 in a case that remains unsolved. On July 29, 1924, Elizabeth Short is born in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. On January 9, 1947, Short is last seen after being dropped off at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. On January 15, 1947, Short's body is found in a vacant lot in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. On January 16, 1947, an autopsy is performed by the Los Angeles County coroner. In September 1949, a Los Angeles County grand jury convenes to examine the LAPD's unsolved homicides, including Short's case. The case remains unsolved.
