On 21 April 2021, a car bombing struck the Serena Hotel in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan, a city located near the Afghan border. The explosion killed at least five people and injured another twelve. According to Ziaullah Lango, Balochistan's provincial Home Minister, the blast occurred in the hotel's parking lot.

Pakistan's Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad stated that the primary target of the attack was believed to be China's ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, who was staying at the hotel at the time. However, the ambassador was not present at the hotel when the bombing occurred. The Interior Minister confirmed that none of the hotel's guests were injured in the attack, but that a police officer and two security guards were among the five victims killed.

Another possible motive suggested for the attack was its timing: the bombing in Quetta took place hours after Pakistan opened a new border crossing with neighboring Iran, a development that had drawn criticism from some quarters.

The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the bombing, describing it as a suicide attack.
