June 2021 Mogadishu Bombing

On 15 June 2021, a suicide bombing took place at the General Dhegobadan Military Camp in Mogadishu, Somalia. The bomber infiltrated a queue of army recruits, posing as one of them, before detonating explosives. The attack killed 15 army recruits.
Al-Shabaab, described as the Somali/East African branch of al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the bombing. The attack was reported as the deadliest in the Somali capital since December 2019, when an al-Shabaab truck bombing at a police checkpoint killed 85 people and wounded 140 others.
The victims of the June 2021 bombing were army recruits who had gathered at the military camp, apparently for enlistment or processing, when the bomber joined their line undetected before carrying out the attack.
