On March 6, 2016, a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden truck at a security checkpoint located at one of the entrances to the Iraqi city of Hillah, south of Baghdad. The attacker rammed the truck into the checkpoint, resulting in at least 60 deaths and approximately 70 additional people injured.
The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack.
