On September 8, 2007, a suicide car bomb attack struck an Algerian naval barracks in the coastal town of Dellys, located approximately 100 km (62 mi) east of Algiers. The attack killed at least 30 people and injured 47 others.
The bombing was carried out by two attackers who died in the attack itself, having detonated the explosive device. Al Qaeda's north Africa wing, known as Al-Qaeda Organization in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.
