Killing of Jared Bridegan

Jared Bridegan, a 33-year-old father of four and Microsoft design manager, was shot and killed in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, on 16 February 2022. He had stopped to move a tire from the road after dropping off two of his children; his two-year-old daughter was still in his vehicle.
Investigators described the killing as planned. In January 2023, Henry Tenon was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree murder with a weapon, and accessory after the fact. Mario Fernandez-Saldana and Shanna Gardner-Fernandez were later charged with first-degree murder and related offenses and pleaded not guilty.
A purported 2023 plea agreement involving Tenon was never followed by sentencing. On 17 February 2026, a judge allowed Tenon to withdraw that plea and proceed toward trial. The former claim that he had a final conviction and 15-year sentence was therefore incorrect. Prosecutors removed the death penalty as a possible punishment for the other defendants in November 2025.
As of June 2026, the prosecutions remained pending.
