Moscow FSB headquarters shooting

On the evening of 19 December 2019, a shooting occurred near the headquarters of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) in central Moscow. A man identified as Yevgeny Manyurov, 39, from a small town near Moscow, opened fire in the area. Two people were killed — one FSB operator died at the scene, and another died the following day — and four people were injured, including one bystander who was slightly hurt. Manyurov was shot dead by a sniper during the incident.
The attack took place on the eve of Security Services Day, coinciding with a period when President Vladimir Putin was attending a festive concert marking the occasion, and came hours after Putin's annual press conference. Security officials reportedly acted aggressively toward reporters at the scene.
The attacker's motive was not established; some reports linked him to extremist groups, but these accounts were unconfirmed.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal investigation into an attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer in connection with the shooting.
