Overview

On 29 September 2013, a car bomb exploded at around 11 a.m. local time in the Qissa Khwani Bazaar, a historic and densely crowded market area in Peshawar, Pakistan. The blast killed 41 people and wounded approximately 100 more.

Victims

Among the 41 people killed were 16 relatives from a single family, indicating the bomb struck an area where a large family group was present at the time of detonation. The market, known as a "Storytellers' Bazaar," is one of Peshawar's oldest and most crowded commercial areas, which likely contributed to the high casualty toll.

The bombing occurred two days after a separate bus bomb attack in Peshawar killed nineteen government workers.
