Answered decades later
Killings that stayed open for a generation before a new test, a new witness, or a fresh pair of eyes closed them.
spanning the 1970s to the 2000s
A case going cold is rarely one decision; it is attention draining away as the leads run out. The files here sat unsolved for anywhere from thirteen to forty-five years before something moved them — evidence re-tested with methods that did not exist at the time, a cold-case unit reopening the paperwork, a person who finally spoke.
Dr Brenda Page was killed in Aberdeen in 1978 and her former husband convicted in 2023. Sherri Rasmussen's 1986 murder was written off as a burglary for two decades before the evidence pointed to a detective. Each file is a reminder that "unsolved" and "unsolvable" are not the same word.
