On 12 August 2022, at about 3:30 p.m., a spree shooting occurred in the Medovina neighbourhood of Cetinje, Montenegro. The perpetrator, identified as 33-year-old Vučko Borilović, entered his home, where he engaged in an argument with a family who were sub-tenants there. He fatally shot three family members, including two children, using a hunting carbine, and then called their father, who was not present, to tell him he had killed his wife and children.

After the on-call service of the Cetinje Security Department was informed of gunfire, Borilović went outside and randomly shot civilians on the street. He entered a neighbouring house and killed two senior citizens, injuring their 32-year-old grandson, and killed the senior citizens' son at the threshold of the house. He then killed his own uncle and three additional neighbours. When police arrived, Borilović refused to surrender, shot at officers and injured one, and fired at an ambulance to prevent staff from treating victims. Around 3:50 p.m. he stopped shooting, made a phone call in which he said he "probably won't survive," and ran toward the Orlov krš mountain, where police opened fire. He refused an entreaty to surrender; police fired around twenty bullets, and an autopsy found he was hit by at least five.

In total, eleven people were killed, including the perpetrator: an 8-year-old and an 11-year-old killed in Borilović's home, their mother who later died of her wounds in hospital, and seven others shot in the street. Six additional people were wounded, several with life-threatening injuries requiring emergency surgery in Podgorica.

Authorities did not disclose a confirmed motive. A cousin of Borilović suggested unpaid rent as a possible motive, though this did not account for the subsequent random shootings in the street. A local man, Nenad Kaluđerović, was initially believed by some, and repeated in local media, to have killed Borilović during the shootout; he turned himself in to the High State Prosecutor's Office on 14 August, and his gun was confiscated. It was later confirmed that police, not Kaluđerović, killed Borilović. Kaluđerović had a prior legal history, including a 2010 murder conviction that was overturned on appeal and led to his acquittal in October 2012, and a September 2021 arrest on a terrorism charge related to opposition to a church enthronement.

On 15 August, Montenegro's interior minister announced a special commission to investigate the actions of Cetinje Police during the incident, citing public misinformation. The same day, authorities reported finding 4,200 euros and eight bullets for a hunting rifle during a search of Borilović's house. A three-day period of mourning was declared, sporting events were cancelled, and all ten victims were buried in Cetinje on 14 August, with public commemorations following in the following days.
