    Murder of Alberica Filo della Torre

    Alberica Filo della Torre, a 42-year-old Roman noblewoman, was beaten and strangled in her locked bedroom at a villa in Olgiata, Rome, on 10 July 1991. The case went unsolved for 20 years until 2011 DNA evidence and a confession led to the conviction of Manuel Winston Reyes, a former domestic employee of the family.

    Milan, Italy · 1995

    Murder of Maurizio Gucci

    Maurizio Gucci, the former chairman of the Gucci fashion house, was shot and killed by a hired hitman outside his office on 27 March 1995. His ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani, was convicted in 1998 of arranging the murder and was released in 2016 after serving 18 years in prison.

    Murder of Chiara Poggi

    Chiara Poggi, 26, was found fatally struck with a blunt object at her family's home in Garlasco, Italy, on 13 August 2007. Her boyfriend, Alberto Stasi, was convicted in a final 2015 ruling, though a 2025 DNA re-examination has reopened scrutiny of the case.

    Via Michelangelo Caetani, Rome, Italy · 1978

    Kidnapping and murder of Aldo Moro

    On 16 March 1978, Red Brigades gunmen ambushed former Italian prime minister Aldo Moro's car in Rome, killing his five bodyguards and kidnapping him. After 54 days in captivity, Moro was shot and killed on 9 May 1978. An Italian court sentenced 32 Red Brigades members to life imprisonment in 1983.
