2023 Tel Aviv car-ramming

On 7 April 2023, a car-ramming incident suspected to be an intentional attack occurred near Kaufmann Street in Tel Aviv, Israel. The vehicle veered onto an occupied sidewalk and continued for approximately 150 meters before skidding and overturning on a lawn in Charles Clore Park.
The car struck seven people in total. Alessandro Parini, a 35-year-old lawyer visiting from Rome, was killed. Two other Italian nationals and four British citizens were injured in the incident. The driver was fatally shot by a police officer at the scene.
Israeli police opened an investigation into whether the incident constituted a terror attack, with Israel's Shin Bet security service also involved in the inquiry.
The driver was identified as Yusef Abu Jaber, a 45-year-old Arab Israeli citizen from the town of Kafr Qassem who worked as a janitor at a local school. His brother stated that the incident was a car accident rather than an intentional attack, and said the family intended to request an independent investigation into what occurred.
In the aftermath, President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella condemned the incident as a terrorist attack carried out against Italian citizens. President of Israel Isaac Herzog conveyed condolences to the Italian president following the killing of Parini and the injuries to the other victims.
As of the available reporting, the characterization of the incident — whether as a deliberate terror attack or an accident — remained under investigation by Israeli authorities, with conflicting accounts from law enforcement and the driver's family.
