Overview
On the evening of Thursday, December 25, 2003, at approximately 6:30 pm, a Palestinian suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a bus stop located at the Geha Interchange on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, Israel. The attack killed four people and wounded sixteen others.
The Attack
The explosion occurred near a bus stop where commuters had gathered. Among the four fatalities were three Israeli soldiers and a 19-year-old woman. Two victims died instantly at the scene, a third died while being transported to the hospital, and the fourth victim succumbed to injuries several hours later in the hospital. Sixteen additional people were wounded in the blast.
Claim of Responsibility and Perpetrator
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) claimed responsibility for the bombing. The group identified the suicide bomber as Saed Hanani, an 18-year-old from Beit Furik, a village in the West Bank. As the bomber died in the attack, no individual has been charged or tried in connection with the bombing.
