2005 Islamabad bombing

On 27 May 2005, a suicide bombing occurred inside the shrine of Bari Imam in Islamabad, Pakistan, killing approximately 20 people and wounding about 150 others. The shrine, located in Noorpur Shahan between the city's 3rd and 4th avenues, is dedicated to Bari Imam, the patron saint of Islamabad and a 17th-century Sufi figure associated with the Qadiriyya order of Sufism.
At the time of the explosion, thousands of Sunni and Shia Muslim worshippers were gathered at the shrine to attend a religious festival. The attack took place amid this large crowd of devotees.
