January 2003 Mumbai bombing

On 27 January 2003, an explosive device placed on a bicycle detonated in a busy street market near the Vile Parle railway station in Mumbai, India. The blast killed one person and injured 28 others. The explosion coincided with a scheduled visit to the city by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, then Prime Minister of India.
This bombing was the second in a series of five bombings that targeted Mumbai over an eight-month period. The other attacks in this series included the 2002 Mumbai bus bombing, the March 2003 Mumbai bombing, the July 2003 Mumbai bombing, and the August 2003 Mumbai bombings.
