July 2003 Mumbai Bombing

Overview
At approximately 21:15 on 28 July 2003, an explosive device placed under a seat at the rear of a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus detonated on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in the Ghatkopar area of Mumbai, India. The blast killed four people and injured 32 others.
The Attack
The bomb was concealed in the rear section of the bus, which was travelling along a busy road at the time of the explosion. Among those killed were a man riding a motorcycle behind the bus and a woman travelling in a rickshaw near the bus. According to an eyewitness account, the force of the explosion threw the woman at least 10 feet from the rickshaw, and she died at the scene.
Context
This bombing was the fourth in a series of five bombings targeting Mumbai over a period of eight months. The other attacks in this series were the 2002 Mumbai bus bombing, the January 2003 Mumbai bombing, the March 2003 Mumbai bombing, and the August 2003 Mumbai bombings.
Investigation Status
No named individuals have been charged, convicted, acquitted, or exonerated in connection with this attack.
Casualties
