    Murder of Mulugeta Seraw

    Mulugeta Seraw, a 28-year-old Ethiopian student, was beaten to death with a baseball bat by three white supremacists in Portland, Oregon, on November 12–13, 1988. The killers were convicted, and a subsequent civil suit held White Aryan Resistance and its leaders liable for $12.5 million.

    Murders of Roxanne Ellis and Michelle Abdill

    Roxanne Ellis and Michelle Abdill, a longtime lesbian couple and LGBTQ activists in Medford, Oregon, were bound, gagged, and shot to death on December 4, 1995. Robert Acremant, who had posed as a prospective apartment renter to meet Ellis, confessed to the killings and was sentenced to death before his sentence was later reduced to life without parole.

    In May 1852, Robert S. Maynard, a 21-year-old gambler from Illinois, shot and killed J. C. Platt in the Rogue River mining area of what would become Jacksonville, Oregon, after a verbal insult; miners then extrajudicially hanged Maynard in what is recorded as the first lynching in Southern Oregon.
