    Murder of Abrar Fahad

    Abrar Fahad, a second-year BUET engineering student, was beaten to death inside a university dormitory in October 2019 by activists of the ruling party's student wing, sparking nationwide protests; 25 people were later convicted, with 20 sentenced to death and five to life imprisonment.

    Murder of Major Sinha Mohammed Rashed Khan

    Retired Bangladesh Army Major Sinha Mohammed Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at a checkpoint in Cox's Bazar on 31 July 2020. A court later convicted two police inspectors and sentenced them to death, with six others given life imprisonment and seven acquitted.

    Murder of S Taher Ahmed

    Syed Taher Ahmed, a geology professor at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, was beaten to death and his body hidden in a septic tank in February 2006 after he uncovered plagiarism and service violations in a colleague's promotion application. A colleague and three others were convicted and sentenced to death; two were executed in 2023.

    Delwoar Hossain, a 50-year-old executive engineer with Gazipur City Corporation in Bangladesh, was abducted and killed on May 11, 2020. His family and colleagues say his anti-corruption stance was the motive; police arrested a colleague, a hired killer, and a driver, but engineers' groups and Transparency International Bangladesh demanded further investigation into possible masterminds.
