    Kovan double murders

    On 10 July 2013, Tan Boon Sin, 67, and his son Tan Chee Heong, 42, were fatally stabbed at their Hillside Drive home in Singapore; the younger victim's body was dragged for about 1 km under a car and dislodged outside Kovan MRT station. Off-duty senior police officer Iskandar bin Rahmat was arrested in Malaysia two days later, convicted of murder in 2015, and hanged in Singapore on 5 February 2025 after his appeals and clemency petition failed.

    2010 Downtown East slashing

    On 30 October 2010, 19-year-old student Darren Ng Wei Jie was chased and stabbed 28 times by a 12-member rival gang at Downtown East, Singapore, dying hours later; five attackers were convicted of culpable homicide and seven others of rioting.

    2010 Kallang slashings

    In the early hours of 30 May 2010, four Malaysian men from Sarawak committed a series of four robberies in the Kallang area of Singapore, seriously injuring three victims and killing construction worker Shanmuganathan Dillidurai. Two men were eventually convicted of murder; Micheal Anak Garing was hanged in 2019 and Tony Anak Imba was sentenced to life imprisonment and caning, while two other accomplices received lengthy jail terms and caning.

    Murder of Iordanka Apostolova

    In January 1998, 26-year-old Bulgarian student Iordanka Apostolova was found dead in a canal near Tanah Merah Ferry Road, Singapore, her throat cut and legs weighted with a sack. Her friend Shaiful Edham bin Adam and his acquaintance Norishyam s/o Mohamed Ali were convicted of her murder and hanged in 1999; Shaiful's wife Hezlinda binte A. Rahman was separately convicted of helping conceal the crime and imprisoned for six years.

    Murder of Liang Shan Shan

    In 1989, 17-year-old Malaysian schoolgirl Liang Shan Shan disappeared in Singapore after leaving school and was found dead nearly two weeks later at Yishun Industrial Park. Her school bus driver, Oh Laye Koh, was acquitted at first trial but convicted of murder in a re-trial after choosing to remain silent, and was executed in 1995.

    Murder of Lim Lee Tin

    On 28 January 1989, 26-year-old Lim Lee Tin was found stabbed to death in a drain at a Choa Chu Kang cemetery in Singapore. Three Malaysian nationals — Chin Seow Noi, her brother Chin Yaw Kim, and their friend Ng Kim Heng — were convicted of the murder and hanged in 1995.

    Yishun triple murders

    In September 2008, three Chinese national women — Zhang Meng, her teenage daughter Feng Jianyu, and their flatmate Yang Jie — were killed in a rented flat in Yishun, Singapore, by Zhang's boyfriend Wang Zhijian, who also attacked and seriously injured Yang's teenage daughter, who survived.

    Murder of Chitrabathy Narayanasamy

    On 17 May 2004, 39-year-old Chitrabathy Narayanasamy was killed outside her Tuas workplace by her husband, taxi driver G. Krishnasamy Naidu, ten days after he was released on bail for stabbing her. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to death, but the Court of Appeal reduced this to manslaughter due to morbid jealousy and imposed life imprisonment.

    Murder of Chi Tue Tiong

    In 2003, 68-year-old Singaporean caretaker Chi Tue Tiong was bludgeoned to death in a Geylang rental apartment during a robbery. His killer, Zailani bin Ahmad, was convicted of murder and sentenced to death; his Indonesian girlfriend, who was also charged in absentia, fled to Batam and was never extradited or tried.

    Murder of Mohamed Shafiqul Islam

    In 1988, 20-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker Mohamed Shafiqul Islam was found murdered and mutilated at a Bukit Timah construction site in Singapore. Two Bangladeshi co-workers were later convicted of his murder and executed in 1993.
