    Kunming Railway Station, Kunming, Yunnan, China · 2014

    2014 Kunming attack

    On 1 March 2014, five knife-wielding attackers killed 31 people and wounded 143 at Kunming Railway Station in China. Four attackers were shot dead by police and one was captured; investigators linked the attack to a Xinjiang separatist group, with thirteen people ultimately implicated.

    2024 Zhuhai car attack

    On 11 November 2024, a 62-year-old man drove an SUV into a crowd of exercisers at the Zhuhai Sports Center in Guangdong, China, killing 38 people and injuring 48. He was sentenced to death in December 2024 and executed in January 2025.

    Murder of Xie Tianqin

    Xie Tianqin, a 47-year-old middle school teacher in Fuzhou, China, was killed by her son Wu Xieyu on 10 July 2015. He concealed the murder for months, defrauded relatives of 1.44 million yuan, and evaded capture for nearly three years before being arrested in 2019 and executed in 2024.

    Qiandao Lake incident

    In March 1994, a tour boat on Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang, China, was hijacked and set on fire, killing all 32 people aboard, including 24 Taiwanese tourists, six Chinese crew, and two Chinese tour guides. The case became a major diplomatic crisis between Taiwan and China after local authorities were accused of concealing information.
