On 11 November 1994, a Palestinian suicide bomber detonated explosives while riding a bicycle into an Israeli Army checkpoint at Netzarim Junction in the Gaza Strip, killing three Israeli soldiers and wounding twelve other people. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

On 26 February 2023, an unidentified gunman later identified as Hamas operative Abdel Fattah Hussein Kharousha allegedly shot and killed two Israeli brothers, Hillel Menachem Yaniv and Yagel Ya'acov Yaniv, in their car in Huwara in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, triggering a night of revenge attacks by Israeli settlers that killed one Palestinian and injured around 100 others.

During the 2014 Gaza War, Hamas captured Israeli soldiers Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin and retained their remains for years; Shaul's body was recovered by Israeli forces in January 2025, and Goldin's body was returned by Hamas in November 2025.

Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was shot in the head and killed on 11 May 2022 while covering an Israeli military raid on the Jenin refugee camp for Al Jazeera. Multiple media, UN, and Palestinian investigations found she was killed by gunfire from Israeli forces; Israel's military prosecutors declined to open a criminal investigation.

On 16 December 2023, Palestinian Christian mother and daughter Nahida Anton and Samar Anton were shot dead while crossing the courtyard of the Holy Family Church compound in Gaza City during the Gaza war. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said an Israeli sniper fired the shots; the Israeli military has repeatedly denied this and offered shifting accounts of the incident.

In April 1984, four Palestinian gunmen hijacked an Egged bus in Israel; Israeli commandos stormed the vehicle, killing two hijackers and a hostage, while two hijackers were captured alive and then killed by Shin Bet personnel, triggering a cover-up and years-long political scandal.

On March 24, 2016, IDF soldier Elor Azaria fatally shot Abdel Fattah al-Sharif, a wounded Palestinian who had earlier stabbed an Israeli soldier, as he lay incapacitated on the ground in Hebron. Azaria was later convicted of manslaughter and served nine months of an 18-month sentence.

On 22 March 2004, Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin, 67, was killed in an Israeli military airstrike as he left dawn prayers in Gaza City, along with several companions and bystanders.

On 17 April 2004, Hamas leader Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi, 56, was killed in Gaza City along with two bodyguards when Israeli warplanes fired missiles at his car, prompting widespread international condemnation.

On 7 April 2023, gunmen opened fire on a car near the Hamra junction in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, killing a mother and her two adult daughters from the British–Israeli Dee family. The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, claimed responsibility.
