    Murder of Travis Alexander

    Travis Alexander, 30, was stabbed, slashed, and shot to death in his Mesa, Arizona home on June 4, 2008. His ex-girlfriend, Jodi Arias, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2013 and sentenced to life without parole in 2015 after two juries deadlocked on the death penalty.

    Murder of Balbir Singh Sodhi

    Balbir Singh Sodhi, a Sikh-American gas station owner in Mesa, Arizona, was fatally shot on September 15, 2001, by Frank Silva Roque, who mistook him for an Arab Muslim in a retaliatory hate crime following the September 11 attacks. Roque was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death, later commuted to life imprisonment.

    Murder of Brian Stidham

    Pediatric ophthalmologist Brian Stidham was fatally stabbed in a Tucson, Arizona medical office parking lot in October 2004. Investigators determined the killing was a murder-for-hire plot arranged by a professional rival, fellow ophthalmologist Bradley Schwartz, who paid Ronald Bruce Bigger to carry out the attack. Both men were tried separately and convicted.

    Murder of Cynthia Garcia

    Cynthia Garcia, a 44-year-old Mesa woman, was beaten, stabbed, and killed by members of the Hells Angels Mesa chapter in October 2001 after an altercation at their clubhouse. The case was solved years later through an ATF informant and undercover operation, leading to the convictions of all three men involved.
