    Sharon Kinne

    Sharon Kinne was convicted in Mexico in 1965 for killing Francisco Paredes Ordoñez and was long suspected in two 1960 Missouri deaths — her husband James Kinne and Patricia Jones — of which she was acquitted (Jones) and convicted then retried without final resolution (James Kinne) before fleeing to Mexico. She escaped a Mexican prison in 1969 and lived undetected in Canada under an alias until her 2022 death, confirmed by fingerprint match in 2025.

    Kirkwood City Council shooting

    On February 7, 2008, Charles Lee "Cookie" Thornton, identified by police as the gunman, shot and killed a police officer outside Kirkwood, Missouri's city hall, then entered a city council meeting and killed a second officer, the public works director, and two council members, and wounded the mayor and a reporter before being killed by police in a shootout.

    Murder of Carl Graham Jr.

    Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham Jr. was shot and killed outside his home on March 20, 2005, days after investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash. Lance Collin Shockley, the prime suspect in that crash, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2009 and sentenced to death; he was executed on October 14, 2025.

    Murder of Felicia Gayle

    Felicia Gayle, a former St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter, was stabbed to death during a burglary at her University City, Missouri home in August 1998. Marcellus Williams was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder; despite later DNA evidence and objections from Gayle's family, he was executed in September 2024 after accepting an Alford plea that was blocked by the Missouri Supreme Court.
