Erin Patterson murdered three relatives and seriously injured a fourth by serving beef Wellingtons laced with death cap mushrooms at a family lunch in Leongatha, Victoria, in July 2023. She was convicted on all charges in July 2025 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Julie Jensen was found dead in her Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin home on December 3, 1998, after being poisoned with antifreeze. A letter she wrote before her death naming her husband, Mark Jensen, as a suspect became central evidence. Mark Jensen was convicted in 2008, had that conviction overturned on appeal in 2015, and was convicted again at a second trial in 2023.

In September 1982, seven people in the Chicago area died after taking Extra-Strength Tylenol capsules that had been laced with potassium cyanide after leaving the factory. The case remains unsolved as of 2026, though it led to nationwide tamper-resistant packaging reforms and federal anti-tampering laws.

Utah real estate agent Kouri Richins fatally poisoned her husband, Eric Richins, with a lethal dose of fentanyl at their Kamas, Utah, home in March 2022, then published a children's grief book before her 2023 arrest. A jury convicted her in March 2026 of aggravated murder, attempted murder, forgery, and fraud, and she was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In 1985, an unidentified person or persons placed herbicide-laced energy drinks in and around vending machines across western and central Japan, killing at least ten to thirteen people and sickening 35 more. No suspect was ever identified, and the case remains unsolved.

A nurse, Rebecca Leighton, was initially arrested and charged but the charges were later dropped. In 2015, nurse Victorino Chua was convicted of two murders and other poisoning-related offences and sentenced to life imprisonment.
