Harold Shipman, a GP in Hyde, Greater Manchester, was convicted in January 2000 of murdering 15 patients, including former mayoress Kathleen Grundy, using lethal doses of diamorphine. A subsequent public inquiry concluded he had killed at least 218 patients over roughly 27 years, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in modern history.

Retired couple John and Lois McCullough were murdered by their youngest daughter Virginia McCullough at their Essex home in June 2019, after which she concealed their bodies and lived in the house for four years before being arrested in September 2023.

Sophie Lancaster, 20, was beaten into a coma alongside her boyfriend Robert Maltby by a group of teenagers in Stubbylee Park, Bacup, on 11 August 2007, reportedly because the couple were dressed as goths. She died of her injuries thirteen days later; two of the attackers were convicted of her murder.
Birstall, West Yorkshire, England · 2016
On 16 June 2016, British Labour MP Jo Cox was shot and stabbed to death in Birstall, West Yorkshire, by Thomas Alexander Mair. He was convicted in November 2016 of murder and related offences, with the judge finding the killing was an act of terrorism motivated by white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology. Mair received a whole life order.

Bella Wright, a 21-year-old factory worker, was shot dead near Little Stretton, Leicestershire, on 5 July 1919 while cycling home. Ronald Light, seen riding with her shortly before her death on a distinctive green bicycle, was tried for her murder in 1920 and acquitted.

Between October and December 2006, five women who worked in prostitution in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, were murdered; Steve Wright was convicted of all five killings in February 2008 and sentenced to life imprisonment with a whole-life order.

Ellie Gould, a 17-year-old sixth form student from Calne, Wiltshire, was stabbed to death in her home on 3 May 2019 by Thomas Griffiths, a fellow student and her former boyfriend, after she ended their relationship. Griffiths pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Ross Parker, a 17-year-old from Peterborough, England, was stabbed, beaten with a hammer and kicked to death by a gang in a racially motivated attack on 21 September 2001. Three men were convicted of his murder in December 2002 and sentenced to life imprisonment; a fourth defendant was cleared.
